HAVOK’s Unnatural Selection Set For Release

Candlelight Records confirms June 25 as the North American release date for Unnatural Selection, the new studio recording from Denver thrashers HAVOK. The ten-song album was produced by David Sanchez with mixing handled by Terry Date (Pantera, Overkill, Deftones). Unnatural Selection features original artwork from Polish illustrator Rafal Wechterowicz (Slayer, Mastodon) and was mastered by James Murphy (Aborted, World Under Blood, Abigail Williams).
“Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death,” the first single from Unnatural Selection, will hit Loud Rock/Metal radio on May 27. The topical song is a furious and urgent anthem that displays the band’s classic thrash and old school metal sound. Vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez ignites the fret board and barks the righteous lyrics while drummer Pete Webber punishes his immense kit. The song’s towering sound benefits from the unique acoustics of the old theater that was utilized as one of the many recording locations for the album. “I am super pumped on how the drums came out,” chimes Webber. “We recorded the drums in a theater to get a huge sound. It was a challenging experience for me between time constraints and the drum parts having much more feeling in them. I believe the added pressure made for some really awesome stuff. I can’t wait to unleash this album to the world.”
Unnatural Selection bears a far more mature collection of songs when compared to Burn (2009), and Time Is Up (2011). HAVOK has truly hit their mark with a sound that will please fans new and old. Additional album standouts include album opener “I Am The State,” “Chasing The Edge,” and the band’s rendition of the Black Sabbath classic “Children of the Grave.”
Unnatural Selection Track Listing:
1. I Am The State
2. Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death
3. It Is True
4. Under the Gun
5. Waste of Life
6. Untitled
7. Chasing the Edge
8. Worse Than War
9. Children of the Grave
10. Unnatural Selection
HAVOK will premiere material from Unnatural Selection tomorrow when they take the stage for the start of their European tour with Suffocation and Cephalic Carnage. The 28-city tour begins in Genève, Switzerland and will conclude in Munchen, Germany on June 8. Before departing for Europe, the band performed at a Denver Benefit. Sanchez comments, “We were honored to be part of HaneyStock. The show was a benefit for Chris Haney who was a bartender at the Gothic Theatre in our hometown who was senselessly murdered trying to break up a fight. All proceeds from the show are going to his young daughter. It was a great event that celebrated the life of an outstanding individual.”
HAVOK has planned three special record release performances. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at venue box offices and companion ticket agencies. A copy of Unnatural Selection will be included with ticket purchase to these area performances. HAVOK is planning a full North American tour for early summer. Details will be announced shortly. For a full list of dates on their European tour visit the band’s official Facebook page HERE.

6/22/2013 Black Sheep – Colorado Springs, CO
6/23/2013 Aggie Theater – Ft. Collins, CO
HAVOK, called “the finest thrash band in existence” by PopDose, released their full-length debut, Burn, mid-2009. The record found an immediate fan base and the curiosity of media around the globe. Time Is Up would follow in 2011. “HAVOK have hit their stride,” said Decibel Magazine in review of the album. “HAVOK is everything that is great about thrash,” added Terrorizer. In 2012, the band released their EP Point of No Return; videos for the EPs two original songs were released earlier this year. To view “Point of No Return” click HERE. To view “From the Cradle to the Grave” click HERE. The videos have had over 200,000 views to date. Metal Underground says, “HAVOK kicks your ass from the moment you hit play, and doesn’t ever let up.”
HAVOK is guitarist/vocalist Dave Sanchez, bassist Mike Leon, guitarist Reece Scruggs, and drummer Pete Webber. The band uses/endorses ESP Guitars, Charvel Guitars, EMG Pickups, Ernie Ball, Peavy Amplification, Pearl Drums, Trick Drums, and Sabian Cymbals.

ANDREW MCMAHON ANNOUNCES HEADLINE TOUR DATES
Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate Frontman to Release Debut EP in Spring 2013
Los Angeles, CA (January 22, 2013) – Andrew McMahon, former frontman and creator of both Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, has announced dates for his upcoming solo tour. This will be his first tour under his own name, where he will perform live with his band comprised of 6 musicians in total including former band-mates Jay McMillan and Mike Wagner. The tour is set to kick off Tuesday, March 12th in Tucson, AZ and will run through April 21st in Atlanta, GA. McMahon is also set to tour with multi-Grammy nominated group fun. starting January 23rd in St. Paul, MN (dates below). Fans can expect to hear McMahon perform songs from both Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin catalogues, as well as new material from his upcoming EP set for release in the spring of this year. Tickets for the Andrew McMahon solo tour go on sale Friday, January 25th at 10am in most markets. Tickets for Andrew’s tour with fun. are currently on sale. For further tour information, please visit andrewmcmahon.com.
“Really excited to get back on the road and try out some new music for the fans,” said McMahon. “Playing songs from all aspects of my career is not something I've done before, so can't wait to start!”
ABOUT ANDREW MCMAHON:
Long time resident of southern California, Andrew McMahon is best known as lead vocalist, pianist and primary songwriter for bands Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin. Andrew’s blend of vocal and songwriting skills combined with the incorporation of his piano playing, led punk-pop quintet Something Corporate to their first major record label singing under MCA Records, who released the band’s critically acclaimed album Leaving Through the Window in 2002. Shortly thereafter, the band found success on the road with main stage gigs on the Warped Tour and tours overseas. In the summer of 2004, Something Corporate decided to take a break, at which point McMahon found himself writing a batch of confessional piano-driven songs that explored his return home to Orange County and the dissolution of a long term relationship. With the help of several musician friends (which included producer Jim Wirt and Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee), McMahon began recording Everything in Transit under the moniker Jack’s Mannequin which released in August of 2005 under Warner Brothers’ Maverick Records. McMahon went on to release another studio album with Jack's Mannequin titled The Glass Passenger, under which he toured with the likes of The Fray and Weezer. People and Things was the final release from Jack’s Mannequin which was released in the fall of 2011 and charted at number 9 on the Billboard album charts. The band played their two final sold out shows on November 11th and 12th 2012 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. In July 2006, McMahon founded a non-profit charity, entitled “The Dear Jack Foundation” to raise funds for cancer research. The organization is dedicated to raising money and awareness to aid in the fight against young adult cancer. McMahon released a documentary titled "Dear Jack" in November of 2009 which chronicled his own battle with leukemia, his treatment and recovery. | Salvador Santana Live in Denver & Co Springs! |
ShareThis
|
We are pleased to announce two shows with latin rock artist, Salvador Santana, son of legendary guitar player Carlos Santana, live at Marquis on March 8th and at Black Sheep on March 10th! Tickets for these epic shows go on sale this Friday, Dec. 21st! here.
ABOUT SALVADOR SANTANA:
Music is a burst of choices.
Not only what note to play when and with what instrument, but whether to play a note at all. Salvador Santana, the 28-year-old keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter with strong Bay Area roots, knows what it means to navigate the infinite options of music. His 2008 project with the Salvador Santana Band–simply called SSB–pursued the scope of his ability. But
for Santana, it wasn’t enough. He has no choice but to push himself further.
Collaboration has always been the centerpiece of his creations, and this passion manifested his solo debut “Keyboard City” (released 2/2 via Various Music/Quannum Projects) around the inspirations of a few legends: Bay Area MC/producer Del the Funky Homosapien who helped hone in Santana’s writing skills, Beastie Boy studio wizard Money Mark, and GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.
The legendary founder of the Wu-Tang Clan rallied support around the album by featuring himself on a remix of the title track “Keyboard City” earlier this fall which was later remixed by none other than Dan Deacon. This spontaneous meeting of the minds demonstrated Sal’s magnetic ability to connect every kind of artist on any dynamic level.
Money Mark inspired Santana in a beautiful way during the creation process. “With all the people I’ve ever collaborated with or just working by myself, I have never produced so many ideas into songs as I have during these Money Mark sessions. That guy is just a machine,” said Santana. “He has mentored me by showing me that it’s cool to be all over the place. It’s cool to sit there and work on a song, then out of nowhere, interrupt that flow and work on another idea. To just go with it,” Santana elaborates.
Santana is pushed by a need to step out of his comfort zone in a quest for new ideas. Easy going and humble, Santana exudes the Bay Area vibe. He began playing the drums at age three–sitting on his father’s lap, controlling the snare and tom, as his father worked the hi-hat and kick drum–but his true love was discovered when he began taking piano lessons when he was six. Later, he studied at San Francisco’s heralded School of the Arts before attending Cal Arts in Valencia, CA. His education, passion and lineage have turned Santana into a monster on the keys.
Music truly thrives in his veins. His maternal grandfather was blues pioneer Saunders King and his paternal grandfather was the internationally celebrated violinist and mariachi bandleader Jose Santana. And, of course, his father is 10X Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana…who’s also a frequent collaborator (Salvador co-wrote “El Farol” from 1999’s smash album Supernatural).
In addition to his musical desires, Santana has worldly efforts on his mind. After a trip to South Africa and inspiring work with Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), something triggered inside of Santana to make sure his music wasn’t only about personal glory. Now that the record is out, Salvador will begin touring the project. He has already been posting various non-profit organizations on his website that will receive a percentage of the profits. “I want to use music in a positive way, and give back to people in need. There can never be enough people who do that.” And there can never be enough musicians pushing their art to the brink.

| Attack! Attack! Announce Final Tour |
ShareThis
|
Attack Attack have announce this is their final tour. They will play the Marquis Theater on Monday, May 6th. Tickets available at ticketweb.com.
A note from the band:
Well everyone, it's been a wild ride for Attack Attack, but I think it's about time Whiting and I take some time to write this note.
We want to start by thanking every single one of you that has ever come out to a show, bought a shirt, gotten in a fight over crabcore, or spent the time to send us notes online. We have been insanely blessed to be able to do what we have done with AA and we think it's time that we wrap up
this chapter in our lives.
Yes, this means exactly what you think it means. The Back in Action Tour will be Attack Attack's final and most ironic tour.
After 6 long years of playing in garages, VFW halls, clubs, open air festivals, and everything in-between. We've decided it is time to lay AA down for good.
You are all beautiful, wonderful people, and we want you to know that we deeply appreciate everything you have done for us.
We are sad to lay Attack Attack to rest, but are very excited for what is next in this new chapter of our lives.
Stay Tuned!!!
Much love,
The Andrews

| JUST ANNOUNCED! Govinda w/ D.V.S* live at Marquis! |

|
Electronic music composer, Govinda takes the stage live at the Marquis Theater on Saturday, December 8th w/ Brooklyn-based electronic musician D.V.S.* (Derek VanScoten). Tickets on sale via www.ticketweb.com on Friday!
ABOUT GOVINDA:
Govinda is the alter-ego of Austin based producer/composer Shane Madden. He began studying violin and composition at the age of eight and went on to study classical violin at the University of Texas where he fell in love with electronic music production. It was in Madden’s pursuit of his gypsy roots that he opened his ears to music from around the world. From experiences learning violin with mysterious masters on his journeys across the globe and his passion for modern design and technology, the current sound of Govinda was born.
Govinda has played with Thievery Corporation, Tipper, Bassnectar, Shpongle, Cheb I Sabbah, STS9 and many more and been featured on over 25 compilations such as Buddha Bar II, Asian Travels II, and Nirvana Lounge selling a combined 400,000 copies. Govinda has played at numerous festivals throughout North America including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Sea of Dreams, SXSW and more. Govinda’s music has been licensed on shows like “Roswell” WB, “Road Rules” MTV, and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” Bravo as well as many independent films.
The Govinda live show is truly a multi-sensory experience that features professional dancers, live projections, resonating vocals and a sonical sound-scape. His live experience is full of vibrant energy that plays to its crowd. Govinda performs on Ableton Live accompanied by classical violin. Govinda is currently touring in support of his album “Universal On Switch” which was released independently earlier this year.
