Headbang for the Highway: Sumerian Records Battle Of The Bands
Compete for a chance to play either Summer Slaughter in Denver or Scream It Like You Mean It in Denver!

Judging is based on song writing, originality, stage presence, crowd reaction and tightness of playing. Ticket sales do not determine the winner. The winner is ultimately based on talent and perceived potential, not ticket sales. However, we strongly believe bands should be getting as many fans and friends out as possible to support them. Headbang for the Highway gives out brutally honest, yet constructive criticism. Think "Simon" from American Idol, but constructively.
The judges will speak with each band individually after their set to give constructive, but brutally honest criticism.

As The Sky Darkens
As The Sky Darkens
In July of 2009, five passionate musicians formed As the Sky Darkens in the closely-knit, prim-and-proper community of Parker, Colorado. ATSD immediately took the hardcore and metal scenes by storm with their unprecedented heart and musicianship.
With influences ranging from Haste the Day to Suicide Silence, As the Sky Darkens brings a wide variety of heavy musical taste to the writing table. Although difficult to categorize, ATSD resides in the realm of metalcore with their brutal, technical breakdowns and beautifully heavy melodies. With a message highly promoting positivity, the band strongly believes in following your goals and dreams, while at the same time not denying the existence of negativity in this world. Their ambitious message relates closely to their experiences with the uphill battle of making music together.
Playing numerous shows in local area, As the Sky Darkens had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of Denver's finest metal and hardcore bands since 2009. In addition to locals, ATSD provided support for Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya, Phineas, Bermuda, Float Face Down, Sea of Treachery, and many other national acts.
As the Sky Darkens released its self-titled debut EP in May of 2011 and showed no signs of slowing. Their full-length album, mixed/ mastered with Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, For Today, Wretched), is entitled "Freedom" and will release in Spring of 2014 shortly prior to tour support of the album.
Today, As the Sky Darkens maintains the original five members and is a well-established Denver act. Their insatiable desire for success is revealed in the mission, and that is to deliver their musical passion on a nationwide basis and have a blast doing it. Check your local venue listings because As the Sky Darkens is coming to a town near you.!/AstheSkyDarkens

HateFaceHateFace is a Hardcore/Metal band from Denver Colorado. The band started as a studio project in June, 2010. It began with Caleb Mather writing and recording the songs Insignificance and Vlad by himself. Brandon Durio then added the bass tracks. As a side project to the Killing of Kindness, Tyler McGowan began writing and recording lead guitar tracks. The song Candy Hearts and Kisses was written as a collaborative effort between Tyler and Caleb. Over the next few months Tyler and Caleb continued to write guitar parts and took turns recording the drum tracks for several other songs. In late October, 2010 Orlando (O) Perrine was auditioned as a drummer. It was then that HateFace became a full on band. HateFace played it’s first show in December, 2010 after less than a month of practice, and have been consistently playing shows since. In March of 2011 Tyler decided to leave the group to pursue his other musical obligations. HateFace is continuing on as a 3 piece until a fitting lead guitar player is found. The goal of this band is to write songs that we enjoy listening to, play some amazing shows, and support the Denver music scene as best we can.

The Fulfillment
The FulfillmentThe Fulfillment is a band centered around the ideas of spreading positivity and love as well as bringing something new, exciting, and refreshing to the table. Only having been a band for less than a year, they have already started to carve a place for themselves in the scene.

After the quick formation of the band in the late summer of 2012, the group holed up in a basement for months, playing shows here and there. After six months of writing and playing shows the band went up to record their debut EP "Origin" with Jesse Walrath of Six Reasons To Run.

In May 2013 they went up to 37 Studios in Rochester Hills, Michigan and recorded their 2nd EP, which is set to release sometime this year.
